Vitamin C in skincare

We are heading towards lighter times and the sun is creeping out more and more. On that occasion, it is important to start thinking about how you can best protect your skin.
We know that sun protection is super important to protect us against harmful UV radiation. UV rays also release free oxygen radicals in the tissue that can be damaging in the skin. If you want to protect yourself as much as possible, you should also use antioxidants. The cells in our skin are constantly affected by free radicals in the form of air pollution, stress and sun. Free radicals are one of the biggest reasons we get wrinkles and aged skin.
Why vitamin C?
We know that antioxidants are important, but did you know that vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants on the market? Vitamin C is a wonderful antioxidant because free radicals react with the vitamin C instead of the skin cells. Vitamin C also gives a more even skin tone by helping prevent pigmentation and stimulating collagen formation, which gives firmness to the skin.
During a skin cycle, pollution and dead skin cells collect at the top of the skin surface. This can make the skin grey and dull with little glow. Vitamin C has an exfoliating effect, while also helping to promote glow. Your skin will gradually feel fresher, healthier and softer, and have better blood circulation. This in turn will make the pores appear less visible over time.
