Everything you need to know about carboxytherapy

Carboxytherapy
You may have seen us talking a lot about carboxytherapy on social media, but what is it actually? And how does it work? Here we take a deep dive into what it is, what it does in the skin and the wonderful results we can achieve with this treatment.
What is carboxy?
Carboxytherapy is a treatment that has been used in hospitals for nearly 100 years. It is a method in which small amounts of carbon dioxide are injected intradermally or subcutaneously, which leads to increased blood flow in the tissue and stimulation of collagen and elastin production.
The treatment has proven very effective in speeding up complicated wound-healing processes, such as diabetic ulcers and venous leg ulcers, and also arthritis, reduced blood circulation, bradycardia, low blood pressure, psoriasis and other skin disorders.
In aesthetic medicine the treatment has been in use since the year 2000, and has shown very good results in anti-ageing therapy, treatment of scars, stretch marks, sun damage, cellulite and hair loss, etc. The treatment is very popular in North and South America and is rapidly entering the European market. After researching the effectiveness of the treatment, it turns out that there has not been a bigger breakthrough in aesthetic medicine since wrinkle-reducing treatment came onto the market.
What happens during a treatment?
During a "carboxy" treatment, we inject medical CO2 gas via a so-called "invisible needle", an ultra-thin needle, just under the skin in carefully controlled, warmed amounts. The tissue around the injection site is then dilated and the tissue will receive increased nourishment. The body reacts by producing more blood vessels, and collagen and elastin production will be boosted considerably. The skin is rebuilt from the inside out, and the results vary from person to person. Carboxy has no downtime, no side effects and is 100% natural. The treatment takes only from 1 minute to 30 minutes depending on which area is to be treated. You can go straight back to work, which is also why it is considered a lunchtime treatment.
